October Monthly Round-Up
There's the match, and went to nine of those. Actually eight and one rugby football match which was at Stockport County's ground. Then there is the peri-match activity. Love that term peri-match, basically the stuff that you do before, half-time, and after the game. For a lot of spectators this involves copious amounts of beer, for the corporates it's some jolly day out. Not sure what I should be doing but essentially it's a white card to get the best out of the circumstances. Boredom or adventure will follow.
Best goal
Wayne Rooney against Blackburn Rovers. It came out of nowhere - we're ball watching a pass into empty space and then it's in the back of the net.
Best win
Stalybridge Celtic 0-1 FC United; FA Cup Replay. Fantastic atmosphere, and hanging on against a team a division above.
Best trip
Going to Stalybridge on a Tuesday night for £5.30 and a bevvy in the notable Station Buffet Bar afterwards.
Worse result
Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United on Tv - news blackout for 12 hours, FC United 3-3 Stalybridge Celtic in the FA Cup. Threw it away and all to do again
Worse trip
Going to see Salford City and not doing enough research on the bus routes, walking up a steep hill and getting into traffic chaos caused by a right wing rally v. anti-fascist protest with lots of coppers on overtime.
Biggest crowd
75,114 at Manchester United v. Sunderland
Smallest crowd
391 at Salford City v. Hyde United; a great historic ground and very friendly
