Got the points job done

United 2-0 Portsmouth
Premiership 2008/09; attendance 74,895
Crowd strainNot the most memorable match. Portsmouth chose to swap ends. You wonder why when sunshine and wind are not an issue. So Rooney slotted the first goal away, right in front of us in the Stretford End. We settle down to watch numerous chances on goal - counted eight possible good attempts, one was even headed off the line. Should be 4 up by now. Come second half get grumpy because I don't like 1-0. I like a two goal cushion for safety's sake. Not until Carrick comes go does the second go in. Looks like three points. "Are you watching Merseyside?" is the song. We'll they won't be viewing as it's not on the Tv tonight.

There was some kid in a brand new jester hat and a silly tooting horn sat not far away. I blame the parents. It might be his birthday treat but that's no respect for the game. This is not a yankee ra-ra sport this is real football. It might be dull sometimes, goals might be few, but wins are wins.

Some of the time my mind wandered off trying to remember the name of that player who did a season and went off to Burnley. Couldn't recall, the Biffa herself described him but we were still stumped. Later just about to cross the footbridge across the tracks "it's Chadwick" I said. "Luke Chadwick" the Biffa herself retorted. He plays for MK Dons now. You can look up his career on Wikipedia and his photos have improved with age.

So back here on Saturday against old Harry's mighty Spurs. Here's to another 3 points we hope. Can we get this season over with, win the league and have a glorious hot summer. Please.
