Along comes 3 points
Sunderland 1-2 United
Premiership 2008/09; attendance 45,408

"The important thing is we have seven games left now and at this point, it is about cutting each game off as they come along." The reported comments of Sir Alex, I like the bit cutting each game off as though it was a big piece of pie...
Sat out in the warm sunshine to listen to this one. Hooked up the old valve radio on a long extension lead out into the garden. The radio doesn't do FM, only Medium and Long Waves and is marked in metres not kHz - thus radio 4 longwave is on 1600m not 200kHz - a piece of history that just about works.
It's funny how you visualise the goals from the radio commentary, and five hours later you watch the highlights on BBC1 Match of the Day, you've got it all wrong. Great glancing header from Paul Scholes not what you expect. A flick that looks like a rebound from Macheda for the second. Is he special? You are when you score another winner.
There is some consolation about the frail defence, only let in one today though, is that it affects other teams too. Liverpool having 3 put past them mid-week in the Champions League, and Chelsea slipping from 4-0 to 4-3 against Bolton Wanderers.
Not in optimistic mood about United's chances of getting past Porto on Wednesday. Not even optimistic about next Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Everton, or even going to Wigan for the game in the hand we've come to rely on. But as the boss says "it's about cutting off each game as it comes along"
