Took myself up to Bury straight from work. Wanted to buy some tickets for the away fixture at Marine. A visit to Crosby..".oooh, I'm giving that one a miss" said Les when I saw him later. "Not after that trouble when they came here." "Thanks Les", I replied, "anyway that was just some players on the pitch". "They'll be a police presence inside and outside the ground." I'll stop worrying it'll be a great day out.

Back to the night match. The supporters were still coming in when the first goal was scored. A rifle of a shot from Carlos Rocca. Could be a good night. I must say FC United looked frisky, and though I've not been many times this season this was the best I've seen them play. Good passing to feet, tearing up the wings, just generally bossing the game.

This night will be remembered for Carlos Rocca getting a hat trick and the crowd waiting behind to cheer him off the pitch with the match ball. Players are always happy to get this traditional gift. I've seen Premiership footballers who could afford to buy a warehouse of footballs genuinely pleased to carry a football and getting a standing ovation.

Sat behind a couple of blokes from some a Slavic speaking country and they looked well happy with the night's entertainment. Other points of interest was at half time some youngsters from a school came on to get cups and medals won in a football competition. The crowd chanted "Championes" as they ran up the pitch. It probably made their night too.

My man of the match Jerome Wright for causing havoc in attack, official man of the match Tunji Moses - son of Remi the former Manchester United player. Video highlights are on FCUM-Tv. Too early to say if a play off place awaits. So off to Scouseland on Saturday and hoping for bright weather as we check out Blundell Sands beach before the game - it has the famous Anthony Gormley statues. Nothing like a bit culture to go with your bag of chips.

Game 57 this season; admission £7.50, chips £1.40, confectionary 65p, tram ticket £4 (not off peak prices setting off at 1820h), bus ticket £2.20.
