January Round Up

Red Cafe
This year I thought I'd do a monthly round-up not centred just on a match. Blogging is an odd past-time, never going to get enough readers to be famous, I basically do this as a memory aid. Already been to nine matches this year and seen twice as many on Tv so it all becomes a blur unless you make notes....

a) We've got tickets in the ballot for the Carling Cup Final at Wembley. Is it to be a day trip to that London or make it a weekend break? Is a new blazer and club tie the fashion to wear on such a big occasion.

b) Met somebody who reads this blog. He has his own Hacking's Ibis Hotels Blog, and not only that he supports City.

c) I'm in a picture on the Accrington Stanley website from the United Reserves match at The Cliff. Taken by non-league photographer legend Mr. Kipax. I've done the Pay Pal business to buy a copy to show the two cats and anyone else. You're suppose to say "very good" in a patronising tone at this point.

d) FC United of Manchester have enough points to be in the play-off end of the table, after being in the middle for most of the season. It's a long time until April when the Unibond Northern Counties League finishes. A position in the Blue Square Conference North is on offer. I'd think I'd rather have a new stadium than keep going to Gigg Lane.

e) How to spot occasional and tourist spectators at Old Trafford? They get to their feet on hearing the song "Stand up if you support etc". When you've been going for years you can't be arsed anymore with that stale old chestnut.

f) Made a visit to the Mega Store at Old Trafford. Didn't buy anything it was a courtesy trip with a friend. Recession, credit crunch wasn't stopping people spending over £100 on new tat. The whole football merchandise industry is keeping so many in employment that I recommend tax breaks for clubs. It would give a better return than those useless greedy Bankers.
