Imperial Victory over Fulham

United 3-0 Fulham
Premiership 2008/09; attendance 75,437
Sprinklers
Another visit to Old Trafford, this time with my old mate Colin, the Biffa is still away in that Londonshire. He got a chippy tea on the way. Met Les walking down, he's a big FC United fan now so he'll only be going if he has a free ticket. He has - how does he do it?

Fulham must have won the toss of the coin and opted to swap ends before kick-off. Why? No sun, no wind, no slope. Don't usually like that. But any bad omens were cast aside when Paul Scholes scored after about 23 minutes. What a rocket, 25 yards out, a pass back from a corner. Oh, the keeper has saved it, he got down fast enough. But a second later it was in the back of the net, and we're cheering.

A very comfortable game. United dominated with superb passing and barely in second gear. Rooney came on as a sub, after an hour. Looks like he's recovered from his layoff by scoring a couple of minutes later. After that the game ran through its motions. The points in the bag. Even considered going home early, which I've never done, but lots of others took that option.

Half time is still very boring. Watched the sprinklers wetting the grass, saw Denis Irwin make the half time draw. He got a massive cheer and applause. You used to win a thousand pounds, now you get a signed shirt. Low cost prize but you'd still take it if you're a fan. Guess they know that and pocket the money. That's all in the picture above.

Back on Saturday for more of the same. Another three points we hope from yet another team who make up the numbers in this league.

Game 41 this season, admission £35, cup of hot chocolate £1.60 - it's more refined sugar than cocoa.
