Three points from the Potters

Stoke City 0-1 United
Premiership 2008/09; attendance 27,500
A very frustrating a game to watch. Sprawled out on the sofa, the curtains half closed to keep the low sun out and the cup of tea on the table. That's one of the problems of early kick-offs in winter the sun is so low in the sky that it not only affects Tv coverage of going to shadows to brightness it affects the passing play sometimes. It's no excuse. Stoke looked well organised and steady at the back, unlike when they turned up at Old Trafford a few weeks ago. In the second half they must have thought they'd done enough to sit back, absorb the pressure and get a point. After being reduced to 10 men they defended and harried ever tighter. But it's not a tactic that usually pays off against United. The pressure was on, though I was predicting an annoying 0-0 draw at this stage. Berbatov came on for O'Shea to increase the firepower and Tevez got the winner on 83 minutes. Season after season we get put through this mill of exasperation only to score late in the game, but that's how titles are won.
