Reds 4 Tigers 3
United 4-3 Hull City
Premiership 2008/09; attendance 75,398
What a game to go to for my 50th live game of the year. Bright winter sunshine setting off for a traditional 3 o'clock Saturday kick-off. It doesn't get better than this. Actually the 3 o'clock kick-off is a myth - 'cos games had to start at 2 o'clock in the days before floodlights. Expected a win but not this close. Can't remember the last team to come here and score three. At 4-1 up didn't expect Van der Sar to get a ball chipped over from a tricky angle. Then there was a penalty to Hull. So it ends up having to make the whistling noise for full time to be called. If only we'd put a few more chances away.
Other incidents are seeing the ejection of lots of Hull fans from the North Stand, and Quadrant. Well they would celebrate their first goal in a home supporters section. You know it's always a flashpoint. The use of CCTV and radio contact with stewards makes this easily achievable.
An excellent match: Game 50 in 2008, cost £35 with an excellent view of Ronaldo's opening goal, and Carrick's low drive in off the post.
