A great derby performance

Manchester City 0-1 United
Premiership 2008/09; attendance 47,320
Always a bit apprehensive over derby encounters but United turned in an impressive battling performance. The irony of not one Manchester born player starting on the pitch wasn't lost. Rooney scoring his 100th goal for the club is one to remember. He nearly got his 101st but Joe Hart saved with the back of his glove as he raced back to his goal. After Ronaldo got sent off I thought the City would out run us but the defence held and the time wasting did its magic. Won't hear a peep out the City fans at work now.

It was a whole afternoon in front of Tv. To complete the afternoon I saw Histon beat Leeds United on a sodden muddy pitch in the FA Cup. I had to look on a map to find out where the village is. Just north of Cambridge. The FA Cup 3rd Round draw followed - Southampton away will do nicely. Though personally I prefer home cup games to league matches other than the big 4. Continued with the Chelsea v. Arsenal encounter. Found myself cheering on the Gunners.
