Young Reserves Local Friendly

Trafford 2-2 United Reserves
Mid-Season Friendly : attendance est. 200
ProgWhat a cold night. Frost on the grass, I'm on six layers of clothing, double socks and scarf - it's just about keeping me alive. It's a young Reserve side made up of Academy players against the regular Trafford side. It takes me a while to work out who is playing. Looks like Macheda up front, and I presume Reece Brown is playing 'cos the manager Paul McGuinness is shouting out his name.

First half, lots of fast football but nothing to trouble the goalies. We count four "high wide and handsomes" - that's a shot that balloons way off target, and at Shawe View this means out of the ground. Move into the main stand to keep warm. Sat in front of the United school boys, been let out with it being half time. Entertaining listening to them - a well behaved, intelligent lot who appear to know a lot of the star players.

Second half we sit in the stand opposite and this improves the game. Trafford catch the United lads out and score a couple of goals. It's not over United keep on playing in their passing style making use of the wings. They get back level.

Walk back to the car, it has a thin layer of soft ice and the temperature reads minus 2C. Back through the bright lights of Urmston, nobody about, get home in time for the 10 o'clock (2200h) news.

Match Report & Pics saved from Trafford FC - here.
Game 47; admission£5, programme £1.50, first goal ticket £1 (I got 40mins away side - didn't win)
