FC United Grab A Point

FC United 3-3 Matlock Town
Unibond Premier League att: 2,344 (H-T 2-2)

First Goal of the season from biffadigital on Vimeo.
The 4th season and a new higher division, this is going to be a very tough 9 months ahead. Some of our star players have gone elsewhere for more money, so I'm not familiar with some of the new squad. Matlock Town look pretty fast and have a two good wingers causing a lot of problems. It shows and we're a goal down after only 7 minutes. The hundred or so Matlock Town fans get excited, and so does everybody on their bench. Perhaps they'd thought it was going to be tough fixture for themselves.

A penalty for FC United on 16 minutes evens up the score, and another goal follows a couple of minutes later. The play is very open and I'm thinking there will be a lot more goals. FC United don't press home and by half time it's 2-2. The second half was big flat until Matlock Town score again. Pressure on to salvage a point, a few substitutions and one of the Baguley brothers knocks it in for 3-3. Maybe we can get the winner too, but even with 3 minutes added time it wasn't to be.

Game 29: Admission £7.50, programme £2, fanzine £2, cup of tea £1.60, development draw ticket £1 (didn't win as usual), tram fare £2.70. Cost £16.80.

Video is of Kyle Wilson scoring from the penalty mark at the Cemetary Road End, Gigg Lane.
Trivia notes : Matlock Town were founded in 1878, the same year as Manchester United. I detected 19 mobile phones with Bluetooth at half time. My first pie of the season was a b.y.o. Sesame Flan made by Saker Bakeries in Todmorden.
