Unibond League President's Cup Final at Curzon Ashton

A cup final on a cold Thursday night. An east wind blowing it's a night for big coat, scarf and hat. Got to the ground early which I thought was a mistake until I saw the queue to go in. A modern stadium on the edge of Ashton Moss but with just three turnstiles open, no programmes, no tea just hot dogs and pop and portaloo facilities. Ten minutes standing in line to go in but plenty of good humour, banter from the faithful fans. There was a school kids game going on at the back which we could watch. One little lad got sent off, and you have a hundred FC fans singing the "Cheerio" song, and a penalty awarded. Missed him taking it as it was my turn to go in. Big cheer when he scored.

The real game was a bit dull, others called it dire. Both teams played 4-5-1 and chances were few. Eventually there was a FC goal in about the 80th minute which brightened the evening. Then a goal line clearance from a Radcliffe attack. Thankfully, I don't think anyone wanted extra time. A late injury time goal sealed it.

Game 21: Admission 7.00, bus fare 3.30, taxi 13.20 (it was cold and late and I wanted a drink)
