When Saturday Does Come

It's been raining all week in Manchester, so my trip toRadcliffe to see FC United depends on a pitch inspection. If it's off I've got an alternative lined up - a pub with dodgy Albanian telly that's showing Reading v. United. Sky, UEFA - landlord's and the geeks will be beat you, all you can do is put up hurdles.

" There is to be a pitch inspection at Radcliffe’s ground tomorrow morning at 11:15am. Radcliffe are doing all in their power to get the match played and have made the following appeal on their website:

Due to the importance of playing tomorrows game versus FCUM, the club are seeking a team of volunteers who can help prepare the pitch. After non-stop rain for the last few days the game could be seriously in doubt. So if you have a garden fork and wellies and the spare time please come down and help the club to stage this important fixture. Any FC United supporters who think that they can assist would be most welcome."

Now that's real grassroots football.
