Newcastle without Sam on Saturday

It came as a surprise to me last night reading that Newcastle United had sacked Big Sam Allardyce. Now they've got to come to Old Trafford, and as reds fan, hopefully get turned over. I've never seen a good Newcastle side play at United's ground. They tend to stick one striker up front, it used to be Shearer, and then roll over at the back.

Newcastle are one those "massive clubs" of England. Just like Man City - lots of fans and plenty of history. But only those with a pensioners seat can remember any silver trophies being paraded around. They must be paying out millions in pay-offs to all the managers they have sacked and still nothing to show for it.

It's been said every season - it takes to time to build a team, I reckon at least two seasons minimum, maybe four to be a real challenger. So back to square one - you can read Paul Parker's (United 1991-96) weblog entry for a similar take on things.

So who is next in the sack race? If you think you know the answer you can place bets at your local bookies. Casualties so far...
Manchester City (Stuart Pearce), Chelsea ( José Mourinho), Bolton Wanderers (Sammy Lee), Tottenham Hotspur (Martin Jol), Wigan Athletic (Chris Hutchings), Derby County (Billy Davies), Fulham (Lawrie Sanchez), Newcastle United (Sam Allardyce)...oh and England (Steve McClaren)
